Outdoor Pursuits

The spectacular land and sea scape of Wales makes it an ideal location for a variety of outdoor pursuits and adventure activities. But it’s important to remember that we share the mountains, rivers and lakes of Wales with many other people, including those who live and work in the Welsh countryside.

This can often lead to pressure, and sometimes conflict.

This can be minimized if everyone involved in the running of outdoor pursuits in Wales works together to ensure that the use of the countryside remains sustainable, and if organizers of events and activities in the countryside try to build local support by endeavouring to ensure that local communities benefit from activities taking place in their area.

The Outdoor Pursuits Group of the Welsh Sports Association seeks to represent the views and interests of the Welsh Governing Bodies of sports whose activities take place in the countryside. It provides a forum for discussing common problems, and a means of sharing the expertise and experience that exists within the Governing Bodies represented on OPG.
